Short answer: the cost of floor screeding depends mainly on the floor area, the depth, the type of screed, how much preparation is needed and how easy the site is to access. Larger floors usually cost less per square metre because the fixed costs of mobilising a pump and team are spread across more area.
The main cost factors
- Area: small rooms carry a minimum charge; large floors are more economical per m²
- Depth: more depth means more material and longer drying
- Screed type: liquid and fast-drying products cost more per m² but can save time
- Underfloor heating: affects the system, depth and the care needed on the day
- Preparation: membranes, insulation, edge strip, grinding or repairs
- Access: pump position, hose distance, parking and permits
- Programme: phased visits or out-of-hours working
How to get an accurate quote quickly
Send the postcode, approximate floor area, intended depth or build-up, whether there is underfloor heating, the floor finish, access details and your target date. Plans or photos help a lot. Our quote form lets you upload them.
Beware the cheapest quote
A screed that cracks, hollows or never dries enough for the floor covering can cost far more to put right than it saved. Ask what depth, mix and preparation is included.
Ways to keep the cost down
- Have the floor ready: insulation, membrane and edge strip laid correctly, and heating pipes pressure-tested before we arrive. Return visits cost money.
- Do several rooms in one visit: one larger pour is cheaper per m² than several small ones.
- Get the depth right: extra depth means extra material and longer drying. Use insulation to make up height where you can.
- Plan access: a clear route for the hose and somewhere for the pump to park saves time on the day.
Why quotes differ
Two quotes for the “same” floor can differ because one includes preparation, fibres, a heating commissioning schedule or protection, and the other does not. Compare like with like: depth, screed type, preparation, and whether the price includes the pump and travel.
