What we lay
Every floor starts with the right system for the build-up, the heating and the finish going on top. Here is what our team installs week in, week out.
- Sand & cement screed A traditional screed is a semi-dry mix of sharp sand and cement, pumped or barrowed into place, compacted and finished…
- Liquid screed Liquid screed is a flowing floor screed that is pumped into place and levels itself, giving a flat, dense floor…
- Underfloor heating screed The screed is what turns underfloor heating pipes into a warm floor. It needs the right depth over the pipes,…
- Fast-drying screed Fast-drying screeds use special binders or admixtures so the floor is ready for coverings far sooner than a standard screed.…
- Self-levelling & floor levelling Self-levelling compound is a thin, flowing cement or gypsum layer, usually a few millimetres deep, poured over an existing floor…
- Floor preparation Most floor failures start below the surface. Floor preparation means getting the base sound, clean, flat and dry enough for…
- Concrete flooring Alongside screeding we work on the concrete floors beneath them: preparing and repairing slabs, correcting levels and laying bonded toppings,…
- Commercial screeding We screed for builders, developers and main contractors as well as homeowners: multi-unit housing, commercial fit-outs and industrial floors, on…
What goes under your floor
Slab and damp-proof membrane
A sound concrete base, with a membrane lapped and taped to keep ground moisture out of the floor.
Insulation and edge strip
Rigid insulation laid tight, a slip membrane over it, and compressible edge strip around every wall so the screed can move without cracking.
Underfloor heating
Pipe loops clipped down and pressure-tested, kept under pressure while we pour so nothing can float or leak unnoticed.
The screed
Pumped in and ruled off to level from a datum. Typically 65 mm for a floating sand and cement screed, less for a liquid screed.
Ready for the finish
Once dry and moisture-tested, the floor is ready for tiles, LVT, wood or carpet.
Watch a job, pump to finished floor
A large commercial unit in Essex: sand and cement screed pumped in, laid between screed rails over a damp-proof membrane, and finished level. Real footage from our team, no stock clips.

Questions we get asked
Where are you based and which areas do you cover?
We are based in Billericay, Essex, and screed floors across Chelmsford, Brentwood, Basildon, Wickford, Rayleigh and the rest of Essex. We take on projects in London, Kent, Surrey and Hertfordshire by arrangement.
What types of floor screed do you lay?
Liquid (flowing) screed, traditional sand and cement screed including fibre and bonded screeds, screed for underfloor heating, fast-drying screeds and self-levelling compounds, plus the floor preparation and insulation that goes underneath.
Do you work for homeowners or builders?
Both. We screed for homeowners, builders, developers and main contractors, on a one-off, contract or subcontract basis, across domestic, commercial and industrial projects.
How do I get a floor screeding quote?
Call 07496 292 245, email us, or use the quote form. Send the postcode, approximate floor area, depth or build-up, whether there is underfloor heating, the planned floor finish and access details. Plans or photos help.
How long before I can lay flooring on new screed?
It depends on the screed type and depth. As a rule of thumb, screed dries at about 1 mm a day for the first 40 mm in good conditions. Fast-drying systems and underfloor heating force-drying can shorten this. Always moisture-test first.
Ready when your floor is
Send the postcode, rough floor area and what is going on top. We will come back with a price, usually the same or next working day.
